She left her hair tie
on top of the bar
and it looked so sad
all alone on that dirty surface.
So out of place,
with its brown skin
against polished green wood.
It must be an alcoholic,
that hair tie,
because it was halfway through
the puddle of beer someone left.
I guess I would drink like that too
if someone had left me
alone on top of the bar
in some hole in the wall dive.
